Bentley’s Application Form
Bentley's is searching for a trustworthy door-person to add to our team (typically 10/11pm-2:30am). This individual will work in tandem with our management, bartenders and other door-people to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff alike. They will also have the opportunity to stick around long term to pick up shifts as needed and opt into earning benefits.
Responsibilities
Card patrons entering the bar to confirm they are at least 21 with a valid ID.
Prevent patrons from leaving with open alcohol to the best of your ability.
Have a cell phone able to run Sling, Google Home, and any other apps needed for scheduling, messaging, and security.
Stay observant of your surroundings; ensure patrons are safe and following house rules, local laws and ordinances, and liquor license requirements
De-escalate disruptive situations with a calm, firm, present approach: never using force, and never disengaging or going passive once a situation has started. If you're managing a conflict, stay engaged until it's resolved or backup arrives.
If you need backup, say so directly and clearly. Be ready to assist others when needed. We look out for each other; nobody handles an escalating situation alone if help is available.
Write incident reports that are factual, succinct, and stick to what happened.
Be sober and fit for duty for the entirety of your shift. This is non-negotiable.
Qualifications
All staff must complete BEST and BASSET training as required by the city of Champaign and the state of Illinois within 30 days of employment. All applicants must be at least 21 years old. Experience is a plus, but not necessary. We are ideally looking for a trustworthy night owl with good communication skills that’s willing to learn and apply themselves!
Payment/Bonuses
Position pays $20 an hour and includes a shift drink per shift. However, if the applicant plans to stay on for the long term, there is an opportunity to opt into a Simple IRA plan available through Bentley’s Pub.
